A man called the police duty officer at the Kowary police station, concerned that his neighbor, who lived alone, had not given any sign of life for two days. The 64-year-old had not left his home and was not responding either to knocking or calling.
The police decided to check. The door to the 64-year-old’s apartment was locked, and there was silence inside. The officers, together with firefighters, decided to force it open.
It turned out that the man had most likely suffered a stroke. He was found in bed. The officers called an ambulance, which took the patient to hospital.
According to the paramedics, help arrived literally at the last moment. If not for the neighbor’s vigilance, the 64-year-old would have died in his own bed.
