Zgorzelec criminal investigators, while carrying out official duties in one of the county’s parking lots, noticed a 28-year-old man suspected of stealing a wallet containing documents and a bank card.
The suspect was arrested. It emerged that he was wanted by the court because he is due to serve a prison sentence for previous crimes.
The stolen bank card, taken last year, was found on the detainee. The 28-year-old had used it several times to make contactless payments for purchases.
The suspect now faces up to an additional 10 years in prison.
