This year, the standard was truly high. All the classes rose to the occasion and presented interesting and original performances. The final competition was a performance featuring a selected Christmas song. Class 7b was the only one to choose a language other than English and sang “Jingle Bells” in Japanese. Class IIIb won; this year, its students independently wrote and developed a short musical based on Dickens’s novel “A Christmas Carol”.
As every year, the foreign-language teachers prepared many interesting activities for their students: the classes decorated their rooms with decorations containing elements of foreign languages, wrote cards to Santa Claus, prepared stands with Christmas dishes and portrayed winter characters—all, of course, in a foreign language.
The classes were assessed by a jury consisting of principal Katarzyna Reguła, teacher Elżbieta Furman, school alumni Julia Smyk and Nicola Chmielowska, and Oliwia Dec, a representative of the Student Council.
The Christmas Song Festival has become a permanent part of the calendar of events at Primary School No. 5. We are pleased that preparing for it brings students joy while also providing a wonderful way to learn foreign languages.
