We had Americans crashing their cars, a grand Valentine's Day declaration of love, one hurricane and one cyclone, a bodybuilder priest, and a silver car that did not abduct any children. We said goodbye to people close to us and experienced tragedies involving strangers.
January: The Americans crash
American soldiers in Bolesławiec wrecked a Hummer, shortly after arriving. Our winter was not easy for the soldiers from the USA.
February: Love and a huge hole
On Thursday, February 16, an old mine shaft in Lubków (Warta Bolesławiecka municipality) collapsed, leaving a 200-meter-deep hole on private property (50 meters to the water table; approximately 8 meters in diameter). Fortunately, no one was hurt.
A man came up with a great idea: at night, he trampled a statement and declaration of love into the snow. Our camera recorded it. “Will you marry me? I love you, Magda :* ♡” — this is what the man trampled into the snow at the Bolesławiec skatepark on Sunday night. Today we know there will be no wedding. A day after a stormy breakup with his beloved, our romantic hero lost his beloved BMW. The boy mourned the loss as follows: Someone set fire to my princess, my beloved BMW E36.
March: Cołokidzi's files and the demolition of ZC Bolesławiec
The No. 2 plant belonging to ZC Bolesławiec, which had been out of operation since the first half of 2015, was demolished. Economic considerations were decisive.
Cołokidzi became a secret police informant, but did not inform on anyone. We obtained the files of well-known Bolesławiec businessman Jan Cołokidzi. He did indeed sign a declaration of cooperation with the communist secret police, but later avoided contact with the security service agent.
April: the silver car that did not abduct children
Near Ceramiczna Street, a stranger invited a child to get into a car. Children reported encounters with the driver for a month. Then everything went quiet. The car was never stopped, and no child went missing.
May: serial killer from Łaziska and a 100-kilogram bomb in Osła
Double murder in Łaziska. Suspect... is serving time for theft. Investigators identified the perpetrator of the murders. Interestingly, the 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, May 6, but in another case. He was wanted under an arrest warrant — he had a prison sentence to serve for theft. He has already been sent to prison.
Sappers from Bolesławiec Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol No. 23 carried out an operation to neutralize a 100-kilogram Soviet aerial bomb, which had been unearthed in the economic zone in Osła (Gromadka municipality).
June: Dawid's suicide
A young man died in a suicide jump from a Bolesławiec viaduct. It happened exactly at midnight between June 18 and 19. Dawid's loved ones and friends say he was always smiling.
July: Tragedy at Krępnica and death at the swimming pool in Osiecznica
It is a tragedy that serves as a warning. While playing in the water, a 19-year-old lost his footing and began to drown. He pulled a young woman under with him, but she managed to free herself.
On July 20, at the swimming pool in Osiecznica, a 40-year-old resident of Osiecznica municipality drowned. He lost consciousness and lay on the bottom of the pool basin for approximately 10 minutes. When he was noticed, he was pulled from the water and resuscitation was attempted. Unfortunately, the 40-year-old could not be saved. The lifeguard was at fault.
August: Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival with Michał Szpak
The most colorful and largest city festival.
September: writer Jacek Pałka dies
A teacher, philosopher, and author of “Bazylek” passed away, a series of books about a father raising a child alone after his parents' divorce. His blog, elka-gra.blog.pl, in which he adopted a female persona, took the blogosphere by storm. Many people will miss him dearly.
October: Hurricane Ksawery, Cyclone Grzegorz, and a bodybuilding priest
Units of the State Fire Service, Volunteer Fire Service, and Military Fire Service were clearing up the aftermath of the hurricane in our county.
The parish priest in Osiecznica near Bolesławiec is probably the first bodybuilding priest in Poland. In the free routine at a bodybuilding competition, Father Artur performed a choreography to the song “Sweet like cola” and looked very sexy in it!
November: the campaign to free Dominik
Dominik, who on October 6 killed his mother's cohabiting partner and injured her, was placed in pretrial detention for three months. The 19-year-old confessed to the act but refused to provide explanations. We know that the situation at the boy's home had long been bad. His mother, Agnieszka K., and her partner, Rafał P., abused alcohol. The 19-year-old worked and studied, but his family squandered his money. The campaign to free Dominik was organized by the Polish Psychopedagogical Society. People are signing a petition concerning a case they consider just and consistent with their compassion and sensitivity. After our publication, nearly 1,000 petitions supporting Dominik were signed. On the PTPP website in Bolesławiec, you can fill out a petition asking for a lenient sentence for Dominik and send money, among other things, for Dominik's defense, a rehabilitation process, and therapeutic care.
December: the homeless woman who did not want to leave the charity Christmas Eve dinner
People living on Królowej Jadwigi Street in Bolesławiec let a homeless woman into their apartment. They wanted her to eat something and warm up. The good deed turned into a nightmare. The homeless woman was under the influence of alcohol. She began swearing at and insulting the hosts. To make matters worse, she did not want to leave the apartment. The owners had to call the police.
