Before the vote on the County’s draft budget took place, opposition councillor Maciej Małkowski spoke, stating that he had expected greater involvement from the City of Bolesławiec, for example in the construction of an operating block at the county hospital. He added that the County Board had only partially resolved the issue of the special school’s premises, because the new building would be very expensive to maintain and its facilities would not be as modern as one might expect. “I expected the City, as a serious coalition partner, to become more involved in the development of the County within the city. That was missing here,” the councillor stressed.

“There has always been cooperation with the City on substantive matters. We could differ politically, but we always supported solutions that served people,” County Head Karol Stasik replied. He immediately stressed: “The City is an independent local government. And when we concluded the agreement, it was stated that the County was also to remain independent. And it is! The Lubin model will not be introduced here. As long as I am County Head, I will not allow it, because the County is meant to serve residents of all the municipalities.

Deputy County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak addressed, among other things, the allegations concerning the special school: “The project is good and has been prepared very precisely. I am somewhat surprised by Councillor Małkowski’s theories. This building was used by the community of Primary School No. 2 and is in good technical condition.”

Councillor Kazimierz Gawron: “As far as the special school is concerned, I start from the assumption that one must measure one’s capabilities against one’s ambitions. Everyone dreams of building something new. But I have a precise understanding of our budgetary possibilities. This is a good idea.”

The councillors adopted the budget resolution with 16 votes in favour. M. Małkowski and PiS councillors (Jan Russ and Jacek Rozpędowski) abstained.
