In an interview with K. Marczewski of Bolec, Father Artur Kaproń, parish priest in Osiecznica, said: “I was afraid that this year Saint Nicholas’s gift wouldn’t reach me because I wasn’t exactly well-behaved, but it worked out.”
The bodybuilding priest also spoke about the commercialisation of Christmas: “All the companies that want to make money at this time remember that it is Christmas. The character of Christmas is overlooked; money matters, not caring for a person’s inner self. People forget that, apart from presents and the outward atmosphere of the holidays, what is inside also matters.”
And he added:
What is sad is that Christmas falls silent after the second day. And yet the Christmas season lasts until the Sunday of the Baptism of the Lord.
The parish priest in Osiecznica near Bolesławiec took part in a bodybuilding competition in October. In the free routine, Father Artur Kaproń performed a choreography to the song “Sweet like cola” (Sweet as cola).
After the performance, which was reported on by the media, Father Artur issued a statement. He wrote: I understood my mistake, which consisted in causing the faithful to take offence by taking part in the championships and publicising it in the media; for this I apologise to them and ask for forgiveness.
This is what the priest’s performance at the competition looked like:
Unfortunately, the Bolec journalist did not address this topic at all. The much-publicised interview is lukewarm and… bland.
