The first day of the summer holidays next year—that is when free public transport is to be introduced in Bolesławiec. (We have reported on the matter several times on istotne.pl). What will change? Among other things, city buses will no longer travel to towns near Bolesławiec.
As Andrzej Jagiera, head of the Municipal Transport Company Andrzej Jagiera, explains, three conditions must be met for free public transport to function properly. First, funding for its operation must be secured. Second, suitable vehicles will operate around the City of Ceramics. The buses that the Municipality of Bolesławiec recently ordered will be larger than those currently operated by MZK. In Lubin, where free public transport was introduced earlier, the number of passengers increased significantly.
Third, the timetable will change. The plan is as follows: the number of kilometres travelled by city buses will remain similar. However, MZK vehicles are to run more frequently, for example during peak hours.
What do you think? Will you leave your cars behind and switch to buses? We invite you to join the discussion.
