On November 25, at around 1:00 p.m., officers from the Prevention Department of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec received a report that an unknown man was loitering by a truck in a parking lot at one of the petrol stations. The officers immediately went to the indicated location.
Indeed, in the cab of one of the trucks, they spotted a Zgorzelec resident known to them. The man was surprised by the presence of the uniformed officers. He was unable to explain what he was doing in the parked vehicle.
The 27-year-old was detained and taken to police custody. It turned out that the man had carried out a series of break-ins targeting truck cabs. (He was charged with a total of seven offenses.) His stolen goods included CB radios, navigation devices, laptops, documents and other small items. The losses were estimated at nearly PLN 20,000.
The serial burglar now faces up to 10 years in prison.
