This year’s autumn edition was attended by third-grade pupils from primary schools in Bolesławiec—more than 570 young ecology enthusiasts in total. “The company has been conducting educational sessions entitled ‘Water – the Source of Life: PWiK Talks About Water, Wastewater and Green Energy’ for seven years. To date, nearly four thousand children have visited our facility and learned about the secrets of water and wastewater treatment,” reports Józef Król, president of PWiK. “At the water treatment plant intake, we show participants where tap water comes from and offer them delicious tap water. At the wastewater treatment plant, pupils learn about the wastewater treatment process and the production of electricity from sewage sludge. The tour of PWiK facilities is preceded by a lecture enriched with experiments and discussion.

PWiK’s educational activities are intended to raise ecological awareness among children and young people. The educational campaign “Water – the Source of Life: PWiK Talks About Water, Wastewater and Green Energy” is co-financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Wrocław, Gmina Bolesławiec and the Bolesławiec City Gmina.

Participants could demonstrate the knowledge they had acquired in an educational competition. Kacper Wróbel won the final of the autumn edition. Second place went to Zofia Anioł, Jakub Orłowski and Kacper Zefirian. Third place was awarded to Karolina Mikutaniec and Miłosz Wojtowicz.

In the competition for a poster promoting drinking tap water, three schools received distinctions: Primary School No. 2, Primary School No. 5 and Primary School No. 1. Primary School No. 2 received the award for earning the highest number of points. As a prize, the school will receive a modern drinking-water fountain.
