Officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police carried out a three-day information and education campaign called “Set an Example!”. During the campaign, police reminded and informed pedestrians travelling along roads after dark not only about the obligation, but also about the need to use reflective elements in a way that makes them visible to other road users.

Under the amended Road Traffic Act, every pedestrian travelling after dark on a road outside a built-up area is required to use reflective elements. It should also be remembered that in a confrontation with a vehicle, a pedestrian is always at a disadvantage, because they are not protected by a bumper, a car bonnet or an airbag.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage vulnerable road users to use reflective elements even where regulations do not require it—that is, on unlit sections of roads in built-up areas.

During the campaign, Bolesławiec police officers handed out approximately 200 reflective bands, thanks to which pedestrians will be visible from a distance of up to 150 metres.
