Since the beginning of the year, officers of the Railway Protection Guard have taken part in 22 exercises concerning effective operations in railway areas. – Efficient and professional Railway Protection Guard operations will provide travellers with greater safety. The Railway Protection Guard is developing increasingly better skills during training with the police, the Border Guard, the State Fire Service and the military police – say representatives of PKP PLK, the company to which the Railway Protection Guard officers report. – Jointly improving qualifications translates into better-coordinated operations and increased passenger safety.
This year, more than 200 Railway Protection Guard officers have already taken part in 22 exercises. The Railway Protection Guard operational and intervention group practised at the Kraków Prokocim stabling station. The officers secured a defence exercise organised by the Łosice county authorities using the Mobile Monitoring Centre – a special vehicle equipped with fixed and portable cameras and night-vision devices.
– Exercises are a good test of the officers’ training level, providing greater experience and better skills in crisis situations. Improving the Railway Protection Guard’s capabilities significantly increases passenger safety – says Paweł Boczek, deputy chief commander of the Railway Protection Guard.
The Railway Protection Guard’s experience in detecting offences and crimes on trains, platforms and railway routes is invaluable assistance to the uniformed services it works with. The Guard’s professional technical equipment is also useful. Mobile monitoring centres and night-vision devices are used. In difficult terrain, officers are also supported by teams with specially trained dogs.
This year, the Headquarters of the Railway Protection Guard has recorded more than 7,500 incidents related to safety in railway areas. Since the beginning of the year, Railway Protection Guard officers have apprehended nearly 2,900 perpetrators of crimes and offences.
