Coal-fired boilers using eco-pea coal
For quite some time, central-heating boiler manufacturers have offered boilers with feeders, which make them more convenient to use. Traditional solid-fuel boilers require laborious lighting and adding fuel at least twice a day (in older models, even more frequently). In addition, their low thermal efficiency results in large amounts of ash that must be removed from the furnace.
A much more convenient solution is eco-pea coal boilers with feeders. They are equipped with a hopper into which the fuel is poured. A special screw or retort feeder doses it into the firebox. The entire system is fully automated and controlled by regulators. All you need to do is set the temperature and refill the feeder every few days. The frequency of refilling depends on the temperature in the rooms, the degree of home insulation and the weather conditions outside.
The costs of heating with eco-pea coal are lower than with traditional coal or coal dust, although the purchase price per tonne is slightly higher. How is this possible? Eco-pea coal is produced from high-quality coal, making it more calorific. During production, it is dried and desulfurized. The latter is particularly important, as it means that only small amounts of carbon dioxide, suspended dust and tarry substances that contribute to the formation of harmful smog are released into the atmosphere. As the company Kotly-Bialek.pl – Producer of CO heating boilers reminds us, thanks to the purification of eco-pea coal, only very small amounts of ash remain during combustion.
What to Consider When Buying an Eco-Pea Coal Boiler
Before purchasing a boiler, you absolutely need to calculate its output. Depending on the building's construction technology and insulation method, it is assumed that 60–100 W of output is needed per square metre. Naturally, a reserve of approximately 10% should be included. A boiler with too little output will not be able to heat the home to the appropriate temperature, while one with too much output will burn more eco-pea coal and the room temperature will be too high.
When choosing an eco-pea coal boiler, it is worth selecting one that has a Class 5 boiler certificate. This will prevent you from having to replace it in a few years with a boiler that meets environmental standards.
Other important components include the regulator, feeder and burner. In each case, there are several options to choose from; the main criteria should be quality, functionality and ease of use. It should be remembered that buying a boiler is a considerable expense, but one made only once every few years.
