A reader called us: “You reported that the pavement on Zgorzelecka Street had been renovated. But what about the one on Komuny Paryskiej Street? It is such shoddy work that it makes your head spin—cobblestones broken by hand and forced into place.”

He added: “This can no longer be levelled; the uneven folds will be even bigger than before. It was impossible to walk along this pavement before, and it will be impossible after the renovation too. In all my life, I have never seen such botched work.”

On Thursday, October 12, we visited the site. Certainly, the situation does not look as bad as the reader describes it. Nevertheless, we asked the head of the District Roads Authority for comment. “The work is ongoing, so not all of the technologically required work has been completed yet; the paving blocks have not yet been compacted, which may be the reason for the residents’ concerns,” explains Paweł Bednarski.

The head of ZDP reassures residents: “If there are any defects, however, the contractor will be obliged to remove them before acceptance.”
