The incident occurred on Wednesday, 17 December, in Iwiny. At around 6:00 p.m., residents of one of the residential buildings heard a tremendous bang. The central heating furnace exploded. As a result of the accident, two people were taken to hospital with burns. Their lives are not in danger. The man, who sustained more serious injuries, is still in hospital. The woman has already been discharged home.
Two fire service units took part in the operation. Three families live in the stairwell where the explosion occurred. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
