On Thursday, December 4, a meeting was held in the auditorium of Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec with the well-known author of books for children and young people, Grzegorz Kasdepke. Students of Primary School No. 1 had been eagerly awaiting it. More than a year earlier, the school had joined the “Author on Demand” project run by the Centre for Civic Education and the Book Institute. As part of the project, the students of Primary School No. 1 became familiar with the writer’s work: they reviewed his texts, illustrated selected stories, and took part in art and literary competitions. A special issue of the school newspaper was even devoted to the author of “Kacperiada”.
“Hi, kids” – that was how Grzegorz Kasdepke greeted the young fans of his work. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere. The author spoke about his work in a vivid and humorous way. Together with the students, he explained the meanings of selected idiomatic expressions. He also talked about how his books are created. Then he invited questions. There were plenty of them. The children were interested in almost everything: where he gets his ideas, whether he will write a novel for young people in the future, where he lives, how he relaxes, and what his middle name is.
After the “press conference”, Kasdepke signed books. The students lined up for the author’s autograph. No one present had any doubt that it had been an exceptional meeting. The children urged the writer to come to Bolesławiec again.
