On August 21, officers from the Nysa group and criminal investigators from Zgorzelec carried out an operation to arrest a 23-year-old resident of Zgorzelec Municipality who was due to serve a five-month prison sentence. The officers received information that the man might be staying in one of the localities in Zgorzelec County.
Indeed, at the scene they spotted a parked vehicle driven by the wanted 23-year-old. The officers blocked the man's exit from the parking lot. However, he ignored their orders and, on the contrary, attempted to flee, suddenly driving the car forward and then backward, thereby causing bodily injuries to the intervening police officers. (Fortunately, the officers were not seriously injured.) The wanted criminal was arrested.
Furthermore, it emerged that the man was connected with car thefts committed in the Lower Silesian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships.
The court temporarily detained the 23-year-old for three months. The thief now faces up to 10 years in prison.
