District police officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica, Senior Sergeant Marcelina Rudnicka and Senior Sergeant Radosław Kupiec, received information from the duty officer that a small child was wandering unsupervised in the area of Jaworzyńska and Mostowa streets. At the scene, the police officers noticed a disabled girl who was frightened and crying. She was unable to provide her personal details or indicate where she lived.
The police officers took care of the 12-year-old girl. They put her in the police car. After driving about 200 metres, the girl recognized a familiar place. It turned out to be the building where she lived. However, there was no one there.
After a while, the 12-year-old's brother arrived and told the officers that his sister had slipped away unnoticed from a barbecue and that the whole family was looking for her. When the girl's mother appeared at the scene, the district officers detected the smell of alcohol on her. The 42-year-old woman had nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in her exhaled breath.
If it turns out that the 42-year-old woman exposed her daughter to the danger of losing her life or health, she could face up to five years in prison.
