In November, we reported that three committees of the Bolesławiec City Council had issued negative opinions on the draft resolution approving new water and wastewater tariffs. PWiK proposed increasing the price of supplied water by PLN 0.44/m³ (19%), while the wastewater charge was to rise by as much as 53% (that is, by PLN 1.75/m³).

As a result of negotiations between the city and rural municipality authorities and PWiK, the company proposed lower rates. Nevertheless, the draft resolution was removed from the agenda of the November session of the City Council. The vote was postponed until December 3.

On Wednesday, councillors did not adopt the resolution. Only three councillors voted in favour (Lesław Śliwko, Jarosław Kowalski and Leszek Chudzik). Seven voted against, while the rest abstained. Despite the Council’s opposition, the new tariffs will take effect next year. From January 1, we will pay PLN 2.65/m³ for supplied water (13.8% more), while the wastewater charge will be PLN 4.29/m³ (29.4% more).
