A real treat for history and military enthusiasts! As we read on the website of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Commando Company:

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the 62nd Special Company of the Polish Army, a decade after the publication of the book’s first edition, a launch will be held for the second edition—expanded, updated and prepared with a new graphic design—of the publication about the famous special unit that was stationed years ago in Bolesławiec, Lower Silesia.

A meeting with the author of the book “Commando” (in the first edition, “Commando.pl”), Jarosław Rybak, a journalist, commentator, PR specialist and former employee of the National Security Bureau and the Ministry of National Defence, will take place on 2 September. Details will be announced soon.

In the introduction to the new edition of the book about our commandos, J. Rybak wrote:

One thing is certain—there will never be another unit like this. After missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the average contemporary soldier has considerably more combat experience than the men of the “62nd.” Nevertheless, it is worth getting to know these commandos and the unique atmosphere of the tiny unit [...]. Twenty years after the formation was disbanded, they are still bound by strong male friendships. They still want to do something for the army.

Ten years ago, we reported in our pages on the first edition of the work by the well-known military commentator. At the time, we wrote:

When the author of “Commando.pl” was working on a book about GROM, he met several military personnel from Bolesławiec, who invited him to a meeting of former soldiers of the 62nd Special Company. That is how the idea for a book about the Bolesławiec special unit was born. The work took about seven years to complete. “The text contains a great many things that most people had no idea about,” Jarosław Rybak notes.

Some documents concerning the Company were declassified only 11 years ago. More about the history of the soldiers from the City of Ceramics can be found in the article: They were among the best commandos in Poland. They were disbanded prematurely.
