Security workers at one of the companies in Legnica notified the police about an attempted copper theft. Police officers were immediately sent to the scene. In the area indicated by the security guards, they spotted a man trying to steal copper scrap. The latter weighed 300 kg. Its value was approximately PLN 5,000.

As the police were arresting one of the suspects, a 19-year-old man, they noticed a vehicle driving toward them that turned around when its occupants saw the uniformed officers. The officers set off after the car. Its driver soon parked on the roadside. Among the people traveling in the vehicle was a 34-year-old passenger who, as it turned out, was an accomplice of the arrested 19-year-old.

Both suspects were placed in police custody. What is more, in a utility room belonging to one of the detainees, the officers found approximately 100 kg of copper scrap.

The 19- and 34-year-olds face up to five years in prison.
