The first incident occurred in Legnickie Pole. Neighborhood officers from the Legnica police headquarters received information that a Hyundai was being driven by an intoxicated driver. While patrolling the municipality, the officers spotted the vehicle. The people inside were well known to them from previous interventions.
The officers decided to stop the car for a road check. The Hyundai driver did not stop; on the contrary, he accelerated sharply. The neighborhood officers therefore began a chase.
The driver fled for several kilometers, endangering other road users and the passenger with his reckless driving. Before Strachowice, he lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch.
At that point, both the driver and the passenger began fleeing on foot. Both fugitives were arrested a short time later. They were both drunk. The 29-year-old driver had more than 2 per mille of alcohol in his system. He was placed in police custody.
The passenger, who behaved aggressively, was taken to a sobering-up center. He will be held responsible for insulting police officers.
The second chase took place in Prochowice after a moped driver failed to stop for a road check. After traveling several kilometers, the moped rider turned into a narrow street, which made it impossible for the officers to continue the pursuit in their patrol car.
The officers drove around it and proceeded on foot toward the exit of the road. The man drove straight toward them. A moment later, he was successfully subdued and arrested.
Because of the driver's irrational behavior, he was tested with a drug analyzer. It turned out that the 39-year-old was under the influence of drugs. In addition, he did not have the required documents with him.
The 29- and 39-year-olds now face up to five years in prison. The Hyundai passenger, meanwhile, could be imprisoned for 12 months.
