Officers from the Police Station in Karpacz, Senior Constable Jakub Erchard and Senior Constable Krzysztof Lenczewski, were notified on August 2 that a dog was staying on one of the properties and, despite the heat, had probably not been given either water or food for several days.

The officers went to the scene with representatives of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Volunteer Fire Service in Karpacz. It turned out that the animal was staying in a windowless room. Indeed, it had neither water nor food.

Since the owner was absent and the howling of the four-legged animal could be heard coming from the room, a decision was made to open the door.

The dog was taken to the Shelter for Small Animals in Jelenia Góra. If it turns out that the owner was indeed abusing his pet, the man could face up to two years in prison.
