The incident occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on the Krępnica River near Bolesławiec. Rescuers received information from a young man that his friend was drowning. An ambulance and firefighters quickly arrived at the scene.
We know from witnesses that the man was not from Bolesławiec. He jumped into the water with his girlfriend. He suddenly began to drown and pulled the girl underwater. She managed to free herself and get back to the shore. The 19-year-old sank to the bottom.
Rescuers are diving from a boat at the site of the incident and trying to locate the body. Unfortunately, the water is more than 10 metres deep there.
Divers from Legnica were called to the scene.
Update, 2:00 a.m.
The search was ended after 1:00 a.m. The body was not found. A search operation will resume in the morning.
