Lubin police officers, carrying out the “Safety on the Water Matters to Me” prevention campaign, are happy to meet with children and young people. Last Thursday, female police officers from the Social Prevention Team of the District Police Headquarters met with children spending their holidays at day camps organised by employees of the Academy of Creative Development in Lubin.

The main topic of the meeting was safety both at home and outdoors. During the visit, the police officers discussed the rules of safe recreation, paying particular attention to the principles of safe bathing and playing near water.

The officers advised the children on how to move safely along roads. They also reminded them how important it is to use reflective elements and cross the road at designated places. Together, they reviewed the basic safety rules that apply not only to pedestrians, but also to cyclists and car passengers.

The police officers sought to explain to the children how to respond in dangerous situations and whom to ask for help. They also talked about their work so that the youngest participants would know that a police officer’s role is not only to arrest perpetrators, but also to provide assistance.

The children took part in the discussion, sharing their observations about maintaining limited trust in people they had just met, as well as unfamiliar four-legged animals encountered along the way. At the end of the meeting, each participant received a small commemorative gift from the police officers: reflective tags and vests funded by the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Foundation.
