Vladyslav K. is accused, among other things, of causing a road accident in Jelenia Góra on December 31, 2016, in which two teenage girls, aged 14 and 16, were killed and a third injured party suffered serious bodily injuries.
The tragedy occurred on New Year’s Eve in 2016, when Vladyslav K., being intoxicated with 1.9‰ of alcohol in his blood and driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee at a speed of no less than 90 km/h, lost control of the vehicle, drove onto the sidewalk beside a bridge and hit the underage injured parties walking along it. Moments later, the car broke through the bridge railings and fell into the riverbed.
Two teenage girls died at the scene. The third suffered serious injuries. The investigation established that at the time of the incident, the accused had no right to use the vehicle belonging to the company where he worked.
K. did not plead guilty. He explained that he did not remember the circumstances in which he had driven the Jeep. The Ukrainian man is being held in temporary detention. He could face up to 12 years in prison.
