The older suspect, a 34-year-old from Görlitz, was detained after a chase through the streets of Zgorzelec. The man, who had been drinking alcohol and was driving an Opel Vectra, failed to stop for a police check and, while fleeing from the police, violated a series of traffic regulations. What is more, the same man had been identified by officers from Bolesławiec as the perpetrator of a theft that took place in our town on June 14.

Police officers from Bolesławiec also detained the 34-year-old’s accomplice—a 30-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County. Both came to Bolesławiec on June 14 to steal a motorcycle. They did not find one that suited them, so… they stole car wheels, which they sold to a random person.

Moreover, it came to light that the younger thief had another wheel theft on his record. He committed it on June 16 in his own county.

Both men had already had run-ins with the law. The younger man is a repeat offender. Now they will answer for their actions before the court. Theft is punishable by up to five years in prison. In addition, the 34-year-old from Görlitz will answer for failing to stop for a roadside check, which under the new regulations is now a criminal offense.
