17th South Slavic Culture Festival

Its idea is to integrate people of diverse roots who settled in this region after World War II. By organizing the festival, we want to preserve the traditions, language and customs of reemigrants from the countries of the former Yugoslavia from being forgotten.

As part of the event, a reemigrant settlement will be created in Piłsudski Square and inhabited by rural women’s circles and associations. Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to try Balkan specialties: traditional pita with fillings (spicy and savory), goulash soup and pepper soup. Once again, a culinary competition for “good pita” and “Balkan cauldron” will be held.

The Association of Reemigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends will present an exhibition. In the afternoon, a colorful procession of folk ensembles will take place, followed by the official opening of the festival by the Mayor of Bolesławiec. Together, we will dance Kolo – a traditional folk dance popular in the Balkans. On stage, local folk ensembles and invited guests – Gradsko Kulturno Umjetnicko Drustvo "PRONIJA" from Prnjavor – will present the folklore of the South Slavic countries through dance, music and song.

In the evening, one of Poland’s most interesting folk-rock bands, Słowiany, will perform on stage. These are colorful personalities, energetic music and the Slavic spirit. Their music provides a huge dose of positive energy. They participated in the eighth edition of the television program “Must Be The Music”. That day, we also invite you to “Balkan Rhythms at Termy Bolesławiec” – a brine bath, sauna rituals and relaxation in a salt cave accompanied by lively Balkan music.

Once again, the Regional Representation of the European Commission in Poland and the Association of Reemigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends are co-organizers of this important event for Bolesławiec. Honorary patronage over the event was assumed by: the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
