During the official closing of the Forum, the organizers presented the Diskoboles, completely new awards in ten categories. Forum Cinema received the award for its results last year in the categories of foreign-film distributor with the best opening and independent cinema with the Disney Box Office film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
– Above all, this is an award for the residents – says Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, who accepted the award. – I am pleased that attendance at Forum Cinema is not only very high, but is also growing year by year. We try to select the most interesting programme possible, and our contacts with distributors are exemplary. I want to emphasize that the city spared no expense to make Forum Cinema modern and comfortable – adds the director of BOK-MCC.
This year, Forum Wokół Kina brought together 600 participants. Fourteen exhibitors presented themselves during the event, six workshops and 28 presentations were organized—including presentations of 19 distributors’ offerings and advance screenings of 10 films.
Forum Cinema has regularly participated in Forum Wokół Kina for years. There, the staff managing the Bolesławiec cinema make new contacts and build relationships with distributors. During the meetings, they learn about new releases in order to later present the best of them to local residents.
Every year, high attendance is driven by an interestingly selected programme and premieres. In 2016, residents of the county were able to see the following films in premiere screenings: Rogue One (Star Wars), Pitbull. Niebezpieczne kobiety, Planeta Singli, Ice Age, Mocne uderzenie and The Secret Life of Pets
In 2017, the following titles proved hugely popular: Fifty Shades Darker, Sztuka kochania. Historia Michaliny Wisłockiej, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge, Furious 8 and the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.
The cinema belongs to the Network of Studio and Local Cinemas and the Polish Federation of Film Discussion Clubs. Its activities are supported by the Polish Film Institute. The chamber auditorium mainly screens more ambitious European and Polish productions. Its aim includes presenting good, interesting, often bold and controversial works; bringing film classics closer to audiences, as well as independent productions. Forum Cinema is also a venue for film retrospectives, premieres and festivals.
