The main scope of the works involves the comprehensive replacement of track no. 1 on two sections: between Wołów and Małowice Wołowskie and between Grębocice and Głogów. New rails and sleepers will be installed there. PLK will replace the points and install new train traffic control equipment. The works will also include the modernisation of the electric heating systems for the points. The surface at 12 level crossings along the Wołów–Małowice Wołowskie route will be replaced.

Passenger service conditions will improve. Seven platforms in Orzeszków, Małowice Wołowskie, Grębocice and Krzeptów will be revitalised. The platforms will be raised, making access to trains easier, and equipped with new shelters, benches and information boards. New lighting will be installed. Rebuilt access routes to the platforms will ensure rail access for people with disabilities.

The investment will eliminate speed restrictions and improve the quality of transport services. The new track will allow trains to travel at a maximum speed of 120 km/h (freight trains at up to 100 km/h) and enable the operation of heavy freight trains (with an axle load of up to 221 kN). The refurbished engineering structures, including two viaducts and one bridge, will also be adapted to the increased train speeds and loads.

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. has signed an agreement with a consortium of Infra Silesia S.A. and Transkopol Sp. z o.o. to carry out the project. Construction works are scheduled to begin in August this year. The works will be completed in November next year. The PLN 62.5 million investment is financed from the state budget.
