The prosecutor’s office charged Wojciech P. with murder. While fleeing a police pursuit in a car he was driving and travelling at a speed of at least 105 km/h, the man struck a pedestrian who was correctly crossing at a pedestrian crossing. The victim died.

In addition, investigators accused the defendant, among other things, of committing robberies using a dangerous tool and causing a direct risk of a disaster in land traffic while fleeing the officers.

The Jelenia Góra Regional Court sentenced P. to a total of 20 years in prison. Moreover, the man will have to compensate the injured parties for their losses (more than PLN 11,000) and pay compensation for the harm they suffered. (In the latter case, this involves the considerable sum of PLN 210,000, of which PLN 200,000 is to go to the closest relative of the man who died in the accident caused by P.).

The defendant was also banned from driving all motor vehicles for 15 years. The judgment is not final.
