The arrests took place on the night of May 31. Detectives noticed a woman who, upon seeing them, tried to hide under a parked car. The 28-year-old resident of Gromadka municipality was unable to logically explain her behavior. However, the officers were not fooled. They noticed an open window in an outbuilding belonging to a cooperative, and visible signs of ransacking inside.

It turned out that the woman and her common-law partner had broken in and stolen, among other things, power tools. She was immediately arrested by the police. Her accomplice was caught by detectives later that same day. He is a 32-year-old resident of Gromadka municipality. Both confessed.

What is more, it came to light that this same couple had broken into a Greek Catholic church in April and robbed it. They stole, among other things, two chalices, two patens, an amplifier and a microphone, a gilded hand cross lying on the altar, and a small amount of money. The thieves also took a commemorative bronze plaque honoring the 1,000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine. The man is also suspected of numerous burglaries in Lwówek County. He was wanted because he has a prison sentence to serve.

The 32-year-old was remanded in custody. His common-law partner faces up to 10 years in prison.
