One of the schools asked the Lubin police station to inspect the coach in which more than forty 15-year-olds were supposed to travel on a trip to an amusement park. The inspection was scheduled after 5:00 a.m. The bus driver, a 48-year-old resident of Legnica, did not arrive at the appointed time. He appeared in the car park only after some time.
The inspected vehicle raised no concerns, which could not be said about the driver, who was drunk; a test showed more than half a per mille of alcohol in his system. That day, the man was supposed to travel 300 kilometres with the young people. Fortunately, thanks to the officers' inspection, the middle-school students set off on their trip with a sober driver.
The 48-year-old lost his driving licence and could face up to two years behind bars.
