The incident took place on April 24. At around 11:10 p.m., the duty officer at the Legnica police station received a call from the partner of a 79-year-old man. She told the officer that her partner had left her apartment at 9:40 p.m. and had still not arrived home. She added that her partner suffered from memory loss.
Patrol officers received a detailed description of the missing man. The police located him only at 2:15 a.m. The elderly man told the officers that he had wanted to get home but had lost his way. In fact, he was walking in the opposite direction and was already about 6 km from his home.
The man was cold and frightened. The officers placed the 79-year-old in a police car and drove him home.
