Police officers from Zgorzelec and Bogatynia arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of committing a robbery using a knife. The incident took place on 22 April in one of the shops in Bogatynia. The suspect entered the shop and, at one point, pulled out a knife, shouting: “This is no joke, this is a robbery!”
He then forced a shop employee to go into the back room. There, he bound her hands, legs and mouth, then took a cash box and a mobile phone and left the shop.
Fortunately, the victim managed to free herself and notify the police. (She did not suffer any injuries.)
The suspect was quickly located and arrested. He is a 32-year-old man from Chorzów who, a month earlier, also in Bogatynia, stole a tablet and several items from a flat occupied by employees of one of the companies.
At the request of the police and the prosecutor’s office, the court remanded the suspect in custody for three months. He could now face up to 15 years in prison.
