The incident occurred on April 20, after 7 p.m. The duty officer at the Jelenia Góra police received information from officers in Zgorzelec that a robbery had taken place in Bogatynia. The perpetrator stole a Renault car. Officers suspected that the thief would head towards Jelenia Góra.

Around 8 p.m., officers from the Jelenia Góra traffic police spotted the wanted vehicle. (They set up a roadblock on National Road 3.) The 40-year-old man from Zgorzelec County, fleeing in the Renault, hit the stationary police cars and was arrested.

It turned out that the 40-year-old had two bags of amphetamine on him, as well as items probably originating from a crime. The man was taken into police custody. His blood was also drawn to check whether he had been driving under the influence of drugs.

Police are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case in detail. The detainee will face trial for his actions.
