The incident occurred on April 4 at around 9:20 a.m. An officer from the County Police Headquarters in Polkowice, driving his car while off duty, noticed a small boy walking alone along the roadside of a very busy road.

The boy was walking along a half-metre-wide strip of greenery, holding on to the roadside barrier with his hands. The police officer reacted immediately and stopped his vehicle. To reach the child quickly, he had to make his way around lorries.

When he reached the boy, he picked up the distressed and crying child and took him to his car. He informed the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica about the entire incident. As it turned out, the latter had just received a telephone report about the disappearance of a 7-year-old boy from a school in Prochowice. As it turned out, it was the same child.

The Polkowice police officer handed the child over to uniformed officers from the Legnica traffic police. The boy, safe and sound, was taken to his guardians. Officers are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the incident.
