Although last Saturday was April Fools’ Day and Easter was still two weeks away, the calendar was moved forward a little in the hall of the primary school in Bożejowice. Festive flavors, aromas and atmosphere were responsible.
According to the jurors, this year the women from Jurków prepared the tastiest dish and the most interesting Easter table. The association from Ocice came second, while third place went to the hosts of the competition—the women from Bożejowice-Rakowice.
Bolesławiec County Head Karol Stasik, while offering Easter greetings, also emphasized the importance of diverse traditions: “We are meeting at Easter tables for the 16th time. Above all, this is about tradition and preserving the customs of our ancestors. Tradition, importantly, is most often contained in everyday small details, family habits and shared experiences of loved ones. And in the case of the residents of Bolesławiec County—because of its history—we can speak of the colorful multiculturalism of our customs. Previous generations came here from different parts of Europe, which is why we are richer for this diversity. Let us always be proud of it and enjoy the potential of multiculturalism.”
