Police officers from the Bolesławiec traffic unit, while on duty in Gromadka Municipality, noticed a lorry whose driver, a 39-year-old man from Zwoleń County, was using a mobile phone while driving. The officers stopped him for a check.
The man admitted to the offence. The officers issued the driver with a PLN 200 fine and 5 penalty points. He then suggested that they issue him with a smaller fine for a different offence and without penalty points. He added that there was an “attachment” in the vehicle registration certificate, which turned out to be a PLN 100 banknote.
The suspect was taken to the police headquarters and charged with attempting to offer a financial benefit to police officers. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
