The councillors returned to the letter from the PKS unionists at the end of Thursday’s meeting of the Bolesławiec County Council: Jacek Rozpędowski (PiS) and Maciej Małkowski (Ziemia Bolesławiecka). The president of the county-owned company, Józef Haluch, attended the session and addressed most of the unionists’ accusations.
Union accusation: why does the Supervisory Board have as many as five members? J. Haluch: “The PKS Supervisory Board has three members. During my term, it has never had five members.”
Unionists: why did the employees not receive their wages? The president: “There has not been a single case in three years where wages were not paid on time. This is an absolute priority.”
Union: why has the minimum wage still not been increased at the company? The head of PKS: “Of course it has been increased. As of 1 January. I do not know where this kind of information came from.”
J. Haluch also addressed the issue of scheduling routes: “The entire PKS timetable is divided into so-called duty schedules, which are then assigned to individual drivers. If changes, modifications or additions are needed, they are introduced into the duty schedule. This takes place at the request of the community or at our request, and is formally approved by the management board.”
Unionists: “Who will finance the deposit for the uncompleted tender with the army?” Haluch: “The tender deposit was paid into the tender organiser’s account on 5 January and was returned with interest on 1 February.”
Jacek Rozpędowski asked whether the company’s head really did not meet with the staff. The president: “Meetings with the staff and trade unions take place regularly. A meeting was held several weeks ago, attended by two trade unions; the one that sent this letter was not there. The chairman of that union did not come to the meeting because he had a dentist’s appointment. Meetings with the staff were held last week and this week. I asked the third trade union to organise a meeting. I was told that there was no need for one.”
Asked about the company’s expenses, Józef Haluch mentioned, among other things, the purchase of 10 new vehicles and four buses; renovation of the service station, whose “technical condition was deplorable”; preparation of premises for employees while the bus station is demolished, where a shopping centre will be built; and the construction of new parking spaces on Modłowa Street, also connected with the fact that the investor will soon demolish the bus station.
County Head Karol Stasik announced that he would instruct the PKS Supervisory Board to investigate the situation.
