The construction of the marina is in line with initiatives concerning the development of tourism in the Rudna municipality that have been underway for several years. The original plan was to build such a complex next to the OSiR sports and recreation centre, but it turned out that the cost of such an investment would be very high and its implementation difficult. Therefore, in accordance with the residents’ wishes, the location was changed and the marina will be built in the port, on Nadodrzańska Street.
The wójt present at the meeting, Władysław Bigus, stressed that the investment is strategic and therefore wants to obtain the residents’ opinions on the marina project, as at this stage there is still time for possible changes. The wójt also expressed hope that the entire facility would be used intensively and become our local gem. Recently, he has also held talks with the president of Nowa Sól about tourist traffic on the Oder and the idea of ships operating along the stretch from Nowa Sól to Wrocław.
Complete documentation has already been prepared, at a cost of PLN 50,000. The total cost of the investment has been estimated at PLN 1.6 million. In connection with the investment, the Marina Chobienia Association was established, declaring its willingness to manage the marina. “This proves that there are people for whom we are building this marina,” municipal officials say. The municipality is also preparing an application for EU funding for the investment.
The entire tourism and recreation complex will include:
- a social building with full sanitary facilities
- a picnic terrace
- a water equipment storage building (10 kayaks and a trailer for transporting them)
- a barbecue shelter
- a themed children’s playground (a ship, on a safety surface)
- a viewing gazebo
- a campsite
- prepaid utility dispensers
- a 40 m × 2.4 m jetty adapted to changing water levels
- a volleyball court
- small-scale landscaping elements (paths and vegetation)
- a sprinkling gate
- the entire facility will be fenced, lit, monitored and adapted for people with disabilities
- a slipway for launching boats will be built at the former ferry crossing.
