The incident occurred after 6:00 p.m. in the building at 48 Dolne Młyny Street in Bolesławiec. While a woman was taking a bath, the carbon monoxide detector alarm went off. The woman got out of the shower and called the emergency services, who immediately also notified the fire brigade. The carbon monoxide concentration was so high that the woman lost consciousness.
Three children were also in the apartment. Firefighters arrived at the scene very quickly. Neighbors helped the firefighters enter the apartment. The carbon monoxide concentration was 360 ppm. Emergency services took 4 people, including the three children, to hospital for observation. When the emergency services took them away, the children were conscious, and the woman was responsive. Seven people were evacuated from the building.
The property management company and other units were called to the scene.
Firefighters checked all the rooms; the carbon monoxide concentration is now zero.
