The second week on screen is “The Cursed”, a fact-based film set in Poland in the second half of the 1940s. Its protagonists are members of the armed independence underground, fighting the communist authorities over Poland’s post-war shape.

“Spoor”: Retired engineer Janina Duszejko, an astrologer and vegetarian by inclination, lives in a small village in the Sudetes. One snowy winter night, she discovers the body of a dead neighbour and poacher. The circumstances of the man’s death are extremely mysterious. The only tracks around his house are deer tracks… In time, more bodies of local public figures are found. All the victims were hunters. Seeing the police’s helplessness, Duszejko conducts her own investigation, whose results are ominous: have the hunters become the hunted?
