Two residents of Bolesławiec, 20-year-old Patryk J. and 21-year-old Mateusz N., abducted and then held the minor Bartosz S. captive. They wanted to force his father to pay a ransom of PLN 400,000. The incident took place on March 5 at approximately 10:00 a.m. The perpetrators arrived by car near the school the boy attended. Mateusz N. remained in the car, while Patryk J. went to the middle school. He said that the 14-year-old’s father had been in a traffic accident and was in hospital.

One of the teachers allowed Bartosz S. to leave the school. The men placed the boy in one of the gazebos on the grounds of an allotment garden. They tied his hands and legs. The boy tried to escape. After his first attempt, the kidnappers tied him up and threw him into a pit partially filled with water.

Bartosz freed himself for a second time. He began calling for help. Employees of a nearby facility came to his aid.

By a decision of the District Court in Jelenia Góra, both kidnappers were found guilty of the acts with which they had been charged. Patryk J. was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison, while Mateusz N. received a sentence of 6 years’ imprisonment.

The verdict is not final.
