The crime took place on February 23 in one of the parking areas near the economic zone in the Gromadka commune. A few minutes after 2:00 a.m., officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn noticed a passenger Skoda in the aforementioned parking area. This aroused their suspicions because fuel thefts frequently occur in the area. Indeed, one of the parked trucks was missing its fuel cap. Its driver, unaware of anything, was sleeping in the cab.
In the passenger car, police officers found several canisters containing stolen fuel—approximately 160 litres worth PLN 750. Moreover, they also found methamphetamine and arrested two people: men aged 26 and 32 from Zgorzelec County. Both suspects were taken into police custody. They face up to five years in prison.
