The Polish-American exercise, held on Thursday, February 23, included testing theoretical knowledge, skills in using a gas mask, conducting immediate and operational decontamination, and exchanging information within the decontamination system.
The training made it possible to compare procedures concerning CBRN defense, become familiar with individual soldier equipment, and compare procedures for using individual decontamination kits.
The Świętoszów armored troops served as instructors during the training, which was attended by chemical soldiers from the 4th Squadron of the 10th Cavalry Battalion (4-10 CAV). The head of the Chemical Troops of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, Major Michał Stańczyk, summarized the joint activities as follows: “The latest activities with soldiers from the US Army chemical troops showed that our armies are able to conduct joint operations thanks to identical procedures and individual equipment meeting the same standards. The presence of American soldiers enables us to improve the interoperability of our troops and is an excellent opportunity to develop our ability to cooperate in an international environment.”
The training ended with a non-military but pleasant element: the chemical soldiers from 10BKPanc introduced their American colleagues to the tradition of Fat Thursday, and together they ate the doughnuts traditionally required on that day.
