The ceremony marking National Education Day took place on Monday, October 13, in the auditorium of I Liceum Ogólnokształcącego. The event was an excellent opportunity to sum up the previous school year. More than 360 teachers and 150 non-teaching employees currently work in educational institutions in Bolesławiec County. “The undeniable success of regional education is that the Convention of Counties of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, which I chair, managed to reach an agreement,” starosta Cezary Przybylski told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. – “Twenty-nine local governments submitted one coherent application.” Thanks to the joint application, vocational education centres will be established in nine counties: Wałbrzych, Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Świdnica, Bolesławiec, Głogów, Kłodzko, Wrocław and Oleśnica.
This is not the only educational success of which our county can be proud. Students of I LO have achieved considerable success in academic competitions. Students of ZSOiZ obtained very good results in vocational examinations. Many county institutions receive EU grants. Moreover, on September 27, the Youth Cultural Centre received the Lower Silesian Key to Success in the category of best educational institution in 2007.
During the ceremony, the starosta delivered a speech in which he quoted the words of John Paul II: “A true educator therefore participates in the lives of young people. He is interested in their problems, tries to learn their views, participates in their sporting and cultural lives and in their conversations; as a mature and responsible friend, he points out good goals and ways to achieve them.” In addition, Cezary Przybylski thanked education employees for their year-long work. Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Bolesławiec County Board, also spoke. “I loved teaching, and I know how much satisfaction teaching can give teachers, even though it is not easy work,” he said. “I wish that you could always say of yourselves: I love teaching,” he added.
During the ceremony, education employees who had attained the status of appointed teacher in the previous school year were honoured (Edward Florków, Sławomir Zimniak, Katarzyna Żak, Maria Idzik, Renata Rosa, Joanna Krzyżostaniak, Barbara Sikora, Agnieszka Kamińska-Zdunek, Anna Myśliwiec, Waldemar Krysztofiak and Przemysław Filipek), as were teachers nominated for the principal’s award.
In addition, the Bolesławiec County Board awarded the following principals: Jacek Jurkiewicz (Zespół Szkół Budowlanych), Laura Słocka-Przydróżna (Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych), Małgorzata Kowalska (Powiatowy Młodzieżowy Ośrodek Socjoterapii w Iwinach), Ewa Lijewska (Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury) and Cezariusz Rudyk (Powiatowe Centrum Edukacji i Kształcenia Kadr). The Board’s awards also went to the following teachers: Andrzej Idzik from I LO, Elżbieta Dacewicz from ZSB, Iwona Jacukowicz-Krawiec and Bogusława Filip from Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych w Bolesławcu, Lucyna Hajduk from ZSOiZ, Adam Werla from Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych and Teresa Rudzińska from Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych.
