The incident occurred on February 20. At around 5:40 p.m., officers from the Jelenia Góra traffic police went to Mysłakowice, where a road incident was reported. As it turned out, the driver of a Renault collided with a Volkswagen. The driver of the latter explained that the Renault had crossed into the opposite lane, damaging the mirror and scratching the side of the VW. The perpetrator of the incident—after a brief conversation with the injured party—left the scene and stopped in the parking lot of one of the grocery discount stores. He was arrested there.
The 66-year-old man was completely drunk. He had a blood alcohol level of 2 per mille. He now faces up to two years in prison, a hefty fine and a driving ban lasting several years.
