The accident occurred after 4:00 p.m. at the airport in Krzyżowa. A Volkswagen passenger car collided with a moped. Two boys, aged fourteen and fifteen, were injured. Both were from Krzyżowa; the older boy was licensed to ride a moped.
“The Volkswagen was traveling toward Osła, while the moped was traveling along one of the airport’s runways. The car hit the back of the moped on its right side. It should be taken into account that the terrain is uneven, and therefore drivers often adjust their speed. However, in this case we cannot say how the driver of the car was traveling. The moped, meanwhile, had a speed limit of approximately 50 km/h. I suspect that it was not traveling at that speed either,” Marek Śledziona from the Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal.
Both boys were taken to hospital. The older boy is in serious condition and is undergoing surgery; the younger boy is in the surgical ward.
