Arts and crafts

The first week of the winter break was spent on arts and crafts classes: “Exploding Valentine’s Box”, “Dream Catcher” and “Boredom Box”, led by Marzena Stadnik and Dorota Dziedzic-Lechowska. The eco-kids had the opportunity to work together with Magdalena Konieczna to help save the planet during workshops in the glass and stained-glass studio, entitled “A Few Things You Can Do to Save the Planet”. Meanwhile, clay enthusiasts taking part in the “Our Sky” workshops worked on a relief and a wall mosaic inspired by birds that fly over our city. The classes were held with the active participation of instructors Edyta Orlińska, Katarzyna Zarówna and Mateusz Grobelny.

Dance

Dance fans took part in open hip-hop workshops with Katarzyna Tomczyk-Jakubowska and Break Dance workshops with Paweł Klimek. Participants in oriental dance classes for children developed a joint oriental-flamenco choreography with Idalia Kowara-Schmidt. During aerobics classes with instructor Agnieszka Radwańska, children worked on correct posture through rhythm and gymnastics exercises.

Music

Vocal workshops with Barbara Lendzian were held for people wishing to improve their vocal projection, learn song interpretation, develop musical sensitivity, work with a microphone, overcome stage fright and learn how to behave on stage. Musically gifted students wishing to become familiar with concepts such as strumming, harmony and arpeggio worked under the supervision of instructor Mirosław Kuc during guitar lessons.

Photography and film

Photography enthusiasts took part in photography workshops with Grzegorz Sidorowicz, while those interested in film art participated in film workshops at the film education studio with Michał Szwed.

The second week of the winter break

The second week of the winter break is ahead of us. Those interested in taking part in the activities listed below are invited to contact the instructors directly. The “Vistula – Sisters and Brothers” educational and creative spatial project will also take place, led for young people by ceramic artist Czesław Matyjewicz. The inspiration for this unusual project was the announcement that 2017 would be the Year of the Vistula River. The activities will involve creating an art installation covering the entire gallery area, almost 90 square metres. The installation will include a paper model attached to the floor, on which the outlines of the Vistula, Oder and Bóbr rivers will be drawn—hence the title. An aqueduct made of clay will then be laid along the drawn rivers. Finally, participants will send glass marbles through the aqueduct, symbolising water, the river and its importance for cities located within the reach of these rivers. The completed art installation can be seen at the “mała Biała” gallery until 3 March and from 20 to 24 February, between 10:00 and 12:00.

The glass and stained-glass studio of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre, led by Magdalena Konieczna, will hold “Tailor-Made” workshops: arts and crafts techniques using textiles, including felt decorations, batik and patchwork. The activities are intended for students aged 7–14 (20–22 February, 10:00–12:00, glass and stained-glass studio, second floor of BOK – MCC).

“Glass and Stained Glass”: three-day open classes for adults and young people aged over 16 (20–22 February, 12:00–14:00, glass and stained-glass studio, second floor of BOK – MCC).

Theatre workshops for children and young people aged 10 and over will be led by Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz. The classes will promote integration and introduce the basics of theatre animation, as well as other games and activities (21–23 February, 13:00–16:00, “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre, BOK – MCC, 17 Chopina Street).

To conclude the winter break, we warmly invite everyone interested to a presentation summarising the holiday activities at BOK – MCC. Participants in the vocal, photography, theatre and film workshops will present the results of their work. Admission is free (24 February, 18:00, “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre, BOK – MCC, 17 Chopina Street).

At Forum Cinema, the winter-break programme is attracting considerable audience interest. The programme features new cinema releases at an attractive ticket price of PLN 12: the family film Alpine Adventure and the animated films The LEGO® Batman Movie and The Last Dragon. Details are available on the BOK – MCC website.
