Four police officers from the Prevention Division, together with an officer from the Traffic Division of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin, received information that a fire had broken out in one of the apartments. At the scene, it turned out that the entire block was already filled with smoke and that the residents could not get outside on their own. Despite the danger, the officers immediately began evacuating everyone inside the building.

Two residents were unable to leave the apartment under their own power. The police officers helped them get outside. There, the emergency medical service provided assistance to the injured.

The officers then entered the building again to check whether everyone had been evacuated. It turned out that there were still residents in apartments on the higher floors. Because of the smoke and high temperature, it was not possible either to establish visual contact with them or to reach them, so they were told to go out onto the balcony, close the door and wait there safely for rescue.

The fire brigade arrived at the scene, extinguished the fire and evacuated the residents who remained in the building. All those affected received medical assistance, and the owner of the apartment where the fire had started also received help from the Municipal Social Welfare Centre.
